5 low impact activities for when you’re feeling low on energy

We all have those days when we’re short on time, low on energy or just don’t fancy getting a sweat on, so exercising can sometimes feel like a complete no-go.

On days like this, when a HIIT workout or going on a run is out of the question, we’ve highlighted five low impact activities you can do to get your body moving at a gentle pace.

1. Walking

Going on a walk, even if it’s just for 15 minutes, has many benefits for both your physical and mental wellbeing. Walking can help to strengthen your bones and muscles, boost your mood and ease joint pain. So why not put on your favourite playlist or podcast and head out for a leisurely stroll. You could even meet up with friends and get your steps in together!

2. Yoga

Yoga is a good activity to try when your energy levels are low, but you still want to exercise. Why not find a relaxing yoga flow on YouTube to get your body moving slowly and spend time focusing on your breathing.

3. Stretching

Want to wake your body up in the morning or wind-down in the evening? Stretching is a useful way to get your body ready for the day ahead or relax after a long day, especially when you pair it with mindfulness techniques to improve your overall wellbeing.

4. Swimming

Whether you want to do laps or meet up with friends for a more relaxed swim, going swimming is a fun low-intensity exercise that leaves you feeling refreshed.

5. Cycling

Being out in nature is a good way to increase your energy levels and improve your mood. So why not try going on a gentle cycle, where you can go at your own pace and focus on taking in your surroundings.
